        • If you’re a Star Wars: Battlefront 2 player, odds are you’ve noticed a lot of new players flooding matches lately. That, obviously, isn’t a coincidence, but rather it’s down to a promotion held by the Epic Games Store a couple of weeks back. During that promo, Battlefront 2 was given away for free to everyone who wanted a copy for a week, and now EA has given us a better idea of just how many people claimed that game.
        • According to a tweet from the EA Star Wars account that was published this afternoon, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 added 19 million players because of the Epic Games Store promotion. Of course, we’re not sure what kind of splash these 19 million players are making since we didn’t have a good idea of how many people were playing Battlefront 2 before the promotion, but regardless, 19 million additional players is nothing to stick your nose up at.
        • Unfortunately, Battlefront 2 isn’t a game that’s going to see any new content from here on out. As EA mentions in its tweet, content drops are over for Battlefront 2, having wrapped up early last year with the release of the Battle on Scarif content pack. Following that, EA and DICE both considered Battlefront 2 to be finished.
        • If you take a look at the replies to that tweet, you’ll see a lot of people asking Electronic Arts to reconsider the position that Battlefront 2 is complete, but at this point, that doesn’t seem likely – even with all the new players. DICE is probably in go-mode on its next big project, and coming back to Battlefront 2 now could get development and release timelines offtrack.

        • While talking to the official PlayStation Magazine, Dawn McDiarmid, lead hub designer at TT Games, revealed that the upcoming action-adventure game will feature around 800 unique characters, and about 300 of them will be fully playable. And yes, that includes fan-favorite Babu Frik. Hey heeeyyyyyy!

        • Furthermore, the game will allow players to explore both planets and space battles across over 28 different locations. This time around, the older games’ level-based structure is being mixed with open-world exploration. This is a result of the whole experience being rebuilt from the ground up with a new, shinier engine. McDiarmid also noted in the interview that players would be able to experience the story of the nine films in whichever order they want, with the added ability to collect and complete multiple quests at a time.

        • A new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game is reportedly in development according to multiple sources, and the title will be coming from a studio that isn’t BioWare or EA. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is widely regarded to be one of the best uses of the Star Wars license in video game history, and the two RPGs in the series thus far are beloved by fans for their reverence for their source material combined with unique storylines, character customizations, and impactful choices.
        • While Knights of the Old Republic has mostly been dormant aside from ports to other platforms, including the mobile Knights of the Old Republic version, there have been some developments over the years that have suggested it would become a bigger part of Star Wars video games in the future. The establishment of Knights of the Old Republic character Darth Revan as canon had fans talking about what that could mean for future games centered around the Sith Lord. With Lucasfilm announcing earlier this month that it would be opening up the Star Wars video game license to more companies than just EA, the likelihood of more Knights of the Old Republic increased, though other titles, like the Ubisoft Star Wars game, have been announced first.
