Dark Legends – Review

Last year author George Mann and artist Grant Griffin brought us the whimsical book Myths & Fables, giving Star Wars fans the opportunity to experience in-universe tales from the galaxy, far, far away. This year they have something a little more foreboding in their latest collaboration, Star Wars: Dark Legends. The book is a collection of seven scary tales from the dark side of the universe.

Art by Grant Griffin

To get into the grimmer part of Star Wars, Mann uses the Dark Side virtues. Each story highlights one of these, such as fear, envy, pride, greed, anger. Much like Myths & Fables and George Lucas’ original intent for Star Wars, these stories highlight the folly of following the path of darkness. Some of the tales are genuinely spooky. It’s really the perfect book for fans during the Halloween season.

Grant Griffin is back as the artist. His work brings each story to life with a frightening picture. His work will leave you wanting more art for each story, it’s that good.

Dark Legends is the perfect addition to the in-universe tales started in Myths & Fables. The only downside is that it is not in the same format size as the previous book so it doesn’t sit on the shelf as a nice duology the way it could have. Otherwise this book is great for fans of all ages and is rated 4 out of 5 stars.
