Stories of Light and Dark – Review

The Clone Wars wrapped up it’s seventh and final season this May, leaving fans with a bittersweet feeling, knowing there would be no more of the series. In celebration of the series Disney Lucasfilm Press has released Stories of Light and Dark. The book is a collection of eleven stories from the seasons of The Clone Wars. Thankfully the retelling of the episodes from the series are more that just regurgitations. Each story is told from the view point of one character from that episode. This affords the authors the opportunity to give each story a new spin by getting into the heads of the characters living through the story.

The episodes represented from the series are, “Ambush”, Dooku Captured”, “Hostage Crisis”, “Heroes on Both Sides”, “Darkness on Umbara”, “Deception”, “Bounty”, “Brothers”, “A Necessary Bond”, “The Lawless” and “Massacre”. Each author finds creative ways to tell the story through the lens of the chosen characters perspective. The true stand out story is “Bug” which gives readers the most unique look at “Massacre” imaginable by adding to that arc in a completely unexpected way.

The book itself is in a storybook format, so it is larger, as is the print inside. It’s perfect bedtime reading for families or younger readers. If you have children or readers from 6-13, this is a great book. Stories of Light and Dark is rated 4 out of 5 stars.
