Ok Nate you asked for comments on Legion so here you go. First the FAQ when they announced the game stated the models where unpainted. Yes all the photos where painted but I think it’s like you said they are going for the war gaming player base that knows that the models are unpainted.
Second as for price, this is way less expensive then other war gaming miniatures. I played 40k for 10years and I can tell you that if GW put out a model the size of the AT-ST it woud go for $80 to $90 easy. I think where the disconnect comes in is that FFG is really targeting the 40k player base with this game. I don’t really think if someone really likes IA and the more campaign style play. And is not into the more skirmish table top gaming is going to like this game. It just comes down to who they are targeting; for years the 40k players have wanted a simpler role set. And that is what legion has in spades. Well they get new players and ones from IA sure, but at the end of the day legion is FFG big move on GW.
