How Much do we Love the Star War Series
And how big will the crowds be when the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge land opens at Disneyland in the summer of 2019.
There are a lot of people who love their theme parks as well as some analysts guessing at the type of effect this new land will have on Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but as many people know guessing can be way off the mark, so if we take a look at theme parks as a whole to try to get a great understanding of what effect on crowds the new land will have we might come up with some better ideas.
Themes as a whole appeal to a great many people both online and off and from an online casino that accepts NZ players themed about a special date like Christmas or Halloween to a Theme park with set rides surround a movie, we love them all.
The theme park industry has enjoyed many major attraction openings with the 2010 opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure based in Orlando probably being the one that is the most instructive when looking at te the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge land.
In fact, Potter is the whole reason we are getting a new Star Wars land at Disneyland and Walt Disney World and Potter is also the reason why we got a whole host of other attractions like Car Land, The World of Avatar. Potter in both the Diagon Alley land at Universal Studios and the original Hogsmeade land at Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios Florida drove up attendance by a massive 71% over the last decade or so, compared to an 18% increase over the rest of the top 20 theme parks in North America.
When Potter was due to open back in 2010 day one was a pointer to how successful the project’s success was going to be as fans began to queue up the night before the official opening and by the time that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint alongside other stars of the Harry Potter movie opened the land open there were tens of thousands of people attending.
This is the measure we have to compare Disney’s Star Wars land to and the most obvious comparison we have to make is the relative popularity of the two franchises as well as comparing the locations, the existing annual passholders bases and the facilities on offer. Once that has been done then we can take what we know about Disney’s operational practices to help us make some predictions about how big the crowds could get.
One thing is certain and that is Harry Potter was a more popular franchise back in 2010 than Star Wars is now as in 2010 Star Wars is a franchise that has passed its peak where Potter was reveling in its success.
To this end it is not expected that the opening day of Galaxy’s Edge will draw 200,000 + people and it probably won’t even attract half that number but what is expected is that it will ensure that Galaxy’s Edge is the biggest entertainment story in the world, whether it is loved by the Star Wars fans is another question.
