This episode your hosts discuss:

  • Did it justify the reboot?
  • What could it have been?
  • TFA will take on a new feeling when we know certain background details.
  • How we saw it: 2D 3D and so forth.
  • Mark took his Dad- which was scary- his father was spoiled and pissed about what happened to Legends.
  • The wait-gap-anticipation- JJ takes 20 years of fan build up and gives it all in one film.
  • Impressions of Alan Dean Foster as the TFA Author.
  • Was Snoke the voice to say “KILL Him”  to Rey? The Audio book used Snokes voice… (Snoke watched Ren his whole life…. might he done similar with Rey)
  • How the book/audio book made the Ren/Rey fight better.
  • Chewie kills every trooper with one shot- only Ren survived.
  • The Republic getting decimated wasn’t THAT clear.
  •  Snoke- we don’t even know if he is a Sith- we know Ren was Jedi trained and Knights of Ren MASTER- but his training is still incomplete… Trained as “what” then?
  • EU Elements
  • AND MORE!

Once more your hosts cover entirely too much TFA Retrospective action this episode. But don’t worry, give it a go; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even get a little education on Star Wars while you’re at it. But no matter how you slice it and dice it, you’ll be having another adventure Beyond the Films. So sit back, hang on, enjoy the show, and may the Force be with you!

First, I want to say that I just discovered this podcast, and I’ve really enjoyed the episodes I’ve listened to. You both have some great insight into the characters and the new canon.

    SPOILERS CONTAINED BELOW:

There are some great things in The Force Awakens, but overall, I found a lot more things to dislike than like. After listening to this episode, you’ve given me a lot to think about, as well as some things to check out. But, I still think that the Big 3 were out of character in some ways. I won’t give you the entire run down, though you did address some of these things in this episode. Mostly, though, I thought you were much kinder to the characterizations in the movie than was deserved. I mean, Luke runs away from his nephew, sister, and best friend in their time of greatest need, but he leaves a secret map for Leia to spend her time tracking down. Really? Luke didn’t give up on his father after Vader cut off his hand, killed Kenobi, tortured Leia and Han, and more, but he’s willing to give up on his nephew. That seems very out of character to me.

As far as Han goes, it killed me to watch that scene with Kylo because Han has always been my favorite character. I always felt Han went through a lot of growth in the original films, and TFA took away a lot of that. It was like he regressed.

Okay, I’ll stop my rant for now, but just know that even though it seems we disagree about TFA, I have very much become a fan of your podcast.
