Butler, sit down to continue their discussion of Dark Horse Comics Star Wars: Legacy Vol. 2 Prisoner of the Floating World by Corrina Bechko and Gabriel Hardman. Strap in and tighten your crash webbing Fandom, Star Wars Beyond the Films is setting off on another rapid-fire trip into the galaxy far, far away!
Last week’s discussion was so in depth that the hosts decided it would best be served split into two separate episodes. How did the characters in this story fair? How did the hosts feel the art was best served? And what did Shelly Shapiro have to say about the films and “A NEW Continuity“?
Sometimes the art style feels newspaper serial-like. And yet other times there is so little in the way of detail that the continuity of the story can break a little from scene to scene. How? You ask; Nathan has a few examples for you.
They not only discuss each individual cover, they also discussed the variants, and the first issue of the next arc. As well as the lack of titles and now many issues make up an arc. Details the single issue covers seem to have dropped suddenly.
Which covers did the host really like? And while the hosts have been a little negative on the art stylization from time to time, they also acknowledge that with ANY Star Wars project you will have fans in all camps over things like art, characterization, plot, and so forth. And while the art might have been found lacking in detail at times, both hosts enjoyed the story over all. So how does this all contrast for them in the end? Did they love it? Hate it? Something else?To find out more, you’ll need to listen ALL THE WAY THROUGH! Once again, your dynamic duo cover entirely too much Sith scheming action in their ONE hour, but don’t worry, give it a go; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even get a little education on the EU while you’re at it. But no matter how you slice it and dice it, you’ll be having another adventure Beyond the Films. So sit back, hang on, enjoy the show, and may the Force be with you!
