At least that’s the good news.
The bad news?
Well, Lucasfilm is “winding down” the Clone Wars series, also Star Wars Detours has been “postponed”.
The good news:
There is a brand-new (I believe animated) series coming from Lucasfilm, presumably the creative team that brought us the Clone Wars.
As we enter into an exciting new era focused on the next Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm has decided to pursue a new direction in animated programming. We are exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming. You can expect more details in the months to come.
I am deducing that it is animated because “new direction in animated programming.” is followed immediately by “exploring a whole new Star Wars series” . That being said, the fact that they state…
“the series is set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming.”
… could indicate that they are hinting that this new project is the long-awaited, too-high-of-a-budget, why-didn’t-this-come-out-in-2009 live action series.
In either case this is thrilling news. It seems we will see the release (in some form or another) of season 6 of TCW and we’ll see a brand-new television series.
This is a day more sweet than bitter for us in the Star Wars community.
