Greetings Fanboys, Fangirls, EU Fans, and returning Beyonders!
And welcome to Star Wars Beyond the Films!
This week, true believers, The Defender of the EU Mark Hurliman, and your EU Guru Nathan P. Butler invite you to continue their journey back into the far flung past of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Come explore the new Dawn of the Jedi series by Dark Horse Comics and everything that comes with this new era in the #SWEU.
This time around, hosts Mark and Nathan start with the bang this series started with. This series sold out on the first two issues; #0 & #1. Multiple times!
Even better, the Digital Copies are selling good too! Wait… what’s this? Nathan’s been buying Digital Comics?! As well as all the variants covers. The guys talk about variant covers and comic addictions.
Nathan rants about the Dark Horse Comics App, and his frustrations with it.
Plus, with a New Era comes an all new symbol!
And since The Clone Wars with it’s Mortis Arc gave us an idea of what is going on inside one of those Monoliths….
….we STILL have no clue what to expect from these things!
Poor Xesh…. All these Force Hounds have letters on their faces…. And whoa…. Their names are the letters in Aurebesh! There could be a LOT of Force Hounds running around out there.
Xesh is turning into a favorite for both hosts.
Is Daegen a Palpatine-like character evil and going to try to corrupt Xesh? And if so does that make Xesh the Vader in this saga?
The Rakatan’s are turning into a truly scary species. As if they weren’t fearsome enough before, what they are willing to do to their slaves is enough to keep Nathan up at night.
Some prominent themes are seen in this new era- light, dark, and balance.
Speaking of Balance; that is one concept that got the reboot in this series. What you think you know, you have no idea.
Could Daegen Lok be the next Obi-Wan Kenobi figure?
Nathan ponders the phrase – “The Force is at war with the planet” …. Uh oh…. that can’t be good.
The hosts have discovered that an open mind helps adapt to anything.
With so much to discuss this week, we figured we’d keep the shownotes short ans sweet, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s Star Wars Beyond the Films!
